Mahmoud Saleh Mohammadi. Art for the People, Art by the People
Description:
Participatory art is both a form of creative expression and a powerful tool for fostering connection, dialogue, and community well-being. As art historian and critic Claire Bishop (2006) reflects, this practice challenges traditional hierarchies by emphasizing collaboration and shared involvement. In this publication, I aim to explore participatory art through art through my own experience as an artist-mediator, focusing on how it bridges cultural and personal narratives. Through this publication, I aim to contribute to the evolving conversation on participatory art, encouraging fellow artists and advocates to explore its potential for creating meaningful social impact. By reflecting on established literature and personal experience, I demonstrate how participatory art can spark immediate connections while also paving the way for long-term transformation within communities. Ultimately, this work reflects the integral role participatory methodologies play in shaping my artistic identity, linking individual stories with collective experiences. 56 pages double-sided Leporello
