Dear Light, dearest dearest Light
Karien Vandekerkhove
Softcover, 240 x 170 x 60 mm portrait, 64 pages, English
Belgian photographer and visual artist Karien Vandekerkhove (b. 1963) made a photo book with intimate images of light in rooms, landscapes and everyday objects.
‘It’s simplicity trumps and yet is enchanting. The viewer is caught in a kind of light music, a game of shadows and reflections. The work is somewhere in the intermediate area between dream and reality. She gives the viewer the feeling that time has stopped the moment you enter the installation. As if time ceases to exist for a moment and life outside is postponed for a while. The work never seems finished, never takes on a final shape, but is in a kind of continuous process of becoming.’
