Julie Calbert’s Êkhô.
“Julie Calbert, lives and works in Brussels (Belgium). Graduated in communication and photography, Julie Calbert develops a practice at the intersection of photography, installation and material experimentation. Her work is rooted in an attention to landscapes, processes of transformation and the relationships between image and matter. Through analog processes, darkroom manipulations and the integration of objects or sculptural forms, she creates ensembles in which images interact with volumes, surfaces and collected or fabricated fragments. After working for the Belgian press, she taught photography for several years and regularly collaborates with musicians and artists from the international scene. Her work has been presented in numerous group exhibitions across Europe. In 2023, she completed commissions and presented solo exhibitions at the Centre d’Art Contemporain du Luxembourg belge (Montauban-Buzenol, Belgium), La Part du Feu gallery (Brussels, Belgium) and DEUSS Gallery (Antwerp, Belgium). In 2024, she exhibited at L’Enfant Sauvage gallery (Brussels, Belgium) and Grand Manège (Namur, Belgium), and took part in a group exhibition at Les Filles du Calvaire gallery (Paris, France). In 2025, she was selected for OpenFolio at the Institut pour la Photographie (Lille, France), was a finalist for the Prix Virginia, season guest artist at Concertgebouw Brugge (Bruges, Belgium) and exhibited at Villa Pérochon (Niort, France). In 2026, Julie Calbert presents her work in three venues as part of the 10th edition of the PhotoBrussels Festival (Brussels, Belgium).” — Myriam pruvot
