Pamela Tulizo – Mababu
Product Details
Mababu by Pamela Tulizo
Pamela Tulizo’s Mababu.
Pamela Tulizo, born in 1993 in the DRC, initially studied and worked as a journalist in Goma before turning to photography due to a lack of freedom of expression. Despite initial discouragement from those around her, and inspired by her father's remark that it was a "man's job," she developed a unique artistic approach focused on female identity and their place in society.
Her research and exhibitions, notably at the Lubumbashi Biennale, enabled her to obtain a scholarship in “documentary and photo journalism” at the market photo workshop in South Africa and to refine her approach, leading to her acclaimed series “Double Identity” in 2019. In 2020, she won the prestigious Christian Dior Young Talent in Photography Award, which allowed her to finance the creation in 2021 of Tulizo Elle Space, a cultural center in Goma to train women and girls.
